Witnessing Spring, especially the cherry blossoms, is kind of like watching nuggets of promise unfold.
Have you ever stood in the presence of one, or two, or of a gathering of these?
Imagine a Constellation formed of petals instead of stars, that have quietly landed on Earth.
That’s what it feels like…
But truthfully, in about fourteen short days the thin but solid frame of a tree will bloom it’s annual display; perfectly and precisely aware of its time.
As time will tell just as each tree bud swells, the bloom will not be far off and what will result is an infinite constellation of white, purple and pink blooms… celebrating their return.
Yet, while the buds are still blooming, and blossoms are descending from the tree…just shy from the end of the last blossom failing, a new growth of the wood. This new bark, which in just a few days, will have formed the required support for the next stage of the cherry blossom.
I feel that maybe, this is why we as humans share such a bond with nature.
Because, in many ways the seasons seem so familiar to our own.
Life, Death, Sudden Change…
Before the Covid- 19 Have you ever experienced a season of blossom … when everything you touched seemed to turn to gold and the reward of your labor was vivid?
Whether in business, career, relationships, personal development, your relationship with God or family all was good? I’ve had those…those “winning seasons” but then there’s an unspoken grounding … that tomorrow may not be Spring.
However, I have never sensed that the blossoms would all fall in one day…
Just like the buds on the Cherry Blossom, nature reminds us that life are but seasons.
As we grow we all realize that life is a conglomerate of seasons, by definition they are “periods characterized by conditions”.
Probably, like you and the whole world over, there are many concerns about today, tomorrow, next month maybe next year…with how long Covid 19 culture will last?
…And though I am not hopeless… I feel the shock from time to time as the blow of Bertha’s Apple’s two year preparation is being restructured.
As the world seems to be on hold today…in waiting…
Jesus two thousands of years ago, (perhaps not in the exact month but parallel to Holy Week) … When, then the disciples were in such grief…maybe, like them, too, it seemed it like all the blossoms had fallen from the tree…
There Jesus predicted His death. He told them “I am going away … and Where I am going, you can’t follow me, But you will follow me later.”
Jesus feeling their hurt and anguish…He comforts His disciples with this words of assurance:
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in Me.
Thomas:”Lord, we don’t know where you are going….
Jesus continues with the words of promise
“Believe me when I say I am in the Father and the Father is in me, or at least believe in the evidence of the works themselves.”
Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.
And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.
If you love me, keep my commands And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever…the Spirit of Truth. – John 13:31 – 14:16, NI
Even in grief, uncertainty and disappointment He promises to return, do you remember times when there were no winning streaks… Maybe it was a marriage, job loss, accident, misfortune, death of a loved one, or broken trust but you were restored to life.
Like in the inner making of the tree, there’s a that source that governs our sense of time, preparing for the next season. I want to encourage you to prepare for promise…of whatever that looks like.
Like at the climax of winter, when we imagine the warm months ahead, vacations, gardens are plans, plans are planned! …I’ve had seed catalogs and garden books sprawled out everywhere anticipating a new season.
Like nature, you & I are nudged with preparation of a promise of return… and believing in His Hope..we ignite the gift of consciousness. We receive healing for broken places left fragile and receiving faith, we recover the peace to mend fragments of hearts and homes…we receive the peace that passes all understanding… when He creates a flowing river to run miraculously through a desert of life.
Would you say, that the Messiah, Jesus who died & rose… Does He not love us more than these (the sparrows of the air which gets its daily food).
We see seasons constantly restored when we witness the works of God, all of creation… and so true the blooms of the tree that bud, fall and are annually restored… and for us life is returned also.
Yes, He does in every season, makes for the right conditions, wherever He determines.
So how? How can one return to the paths of Promise?
Here are a few key steps:
We must remind ourselves of His love… of the evidence of God’s past work, his very nature.
During times of trial requires a daily reminder that you are loved… which means you are not alone.
Recall life’s blessing & what He has done. And at times when we forget, to repent for our doubt and then trust more in each new step.
Practice a (deeper) call to prayer. We have the privilege by His blood to ask Him anything… for wisdom and direction, knowing that is it God’s will for you to prosper.
Adopt a strong support system, one that curates scripture-based faith. This is to create & maintain an equal give & take relationship, one that encourages others & is solution oriented.
Review your vision, dreams, goals and purpose and be open to hear God’s perfect will. There may be opportunities not yet realized; prayer will help determine which steps are best.
Prepare for greater resiliency, that in even faith there maybe sorrows, tests and trials. This is the time to walk out your faith because you have One greater than yourself.
Lastly, in order to be restored we have to
Be in the right position to receive. In order for this to happen it requires God’s word to be before us more than any other source or concept or idea.
This comes by daily reading the Promises of God, the actual, written word of God. This is the inspired truth, it explains our ownership rights as a believer that was purchased & redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ.
As we grow we realize that life is a conglomerate of seasons & seasons are promised to return.
“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
Blessings & love
